At our Worship Service, the Rector (Priest) distributes the Host (wafer) to the people that come to the communion rail during the Holy Eucharist. The Chalice presents the Wine to the people, and is distributed by Parishioners.
The Readers volunteer to read the Scripture selected for the Worship. Young or elderly, they read lessons from the Old Testament, Psalms, and the New Testament.
Prayers of the People are a set of Prayers selected from several different "forms" and read each week. The names of people that have asked our Parish to pray for them, as well as those in the military with connections to our Parish are read aloud during the Prayers.
The Worship Service has so many volunteers it's hard to make sure they are all recognized! There are Acolytes, people that read the scriptures, people that help with the Chalice, and more. Committees that work on the Service like the Altar Guild, Choir and Organist have been covered on other website pages. These are the jobs that are done individually and happen every week!
Worship with us on Sunday Morning 10:30 am
Acolytes enter with the "Processional" or the first hymn, when the Acolytes, Choir, and Rector process into the Church. The Acolytes light the candles, carry the Cross, and the Gospel Book. At the time of the Communion, they bring the Host (bread) and wine to the Rector to be Consecrated. They also bring a bowl and a pitcher for the Rector to wash her hands. At the end of the Worship, they leave with the Choir and Rector during the "Recessional", the last hymn.
Bulletins are made and handed out at each Worship Service. They contain the order of Worship, the Hymn numbers, and announcements of upcoming meetings and events. The Bulletins are very important and are carefully coordinated with the Rector, Music Director, and Worship Committee.

During the Worship we have an Offertory where money is donated to the Church - "passing the collection plate". Two people volunteer each week to take up the collection and present it to the Altar after a Hymn. After the Worship Service a team counts the contributions from the people in the congregation. The money given to the Parish is used for a range of purposes including salaries, mission and outreach work, paying bills, and maintenance.
