Prayers

The Readers read the scripture selections in the service.  Young or elderly, they read lessons from the Old Testament, Psalms, and the New Testament.

Intercessors lead the Prayers of the People.  They read out the prayers printed for that day, and the names of those for whom our prayers are requested.

The Worship Service has many ministers: acolytes, readers, musicians, intercessors, ushers, and more. The schedule that shows who is serving when can be found here.

At our parish, the acolytes serve several roles, including carrying the cross and gospel book into church at the beginning of the service, lighting and extinguishing the altar candles, and bringing the vessels for Communion to the Deacon at the table-setting.
