Final instructions before the Walk
One of the LifeStyles services is the SafeNights program. The program provides a safe clean environment for people in need of shelter, especially during the colder months. It operates October 1 - April 15 and provides shelter and food to people from locations that provide the essentials for an overnight stay.
This year, Durham Parish is providing breakfast for SafeNights clients during the week of November 11-18:
St Paul’s Waldorf is sponsoring a week of Safe Nights for unhoused neighbors. Durham Church will be providing the breakfasts, in the form of pre-packaged continental breakfast food. If you can help with the cost of those items, please make a donation either through Durham's PayPal or by check to Durham, and note in the memo area that it is for SafeNights.
Since St. Paul's cannot host in their building, they are paying for motel rooms for the week. They welcome monetary donations for the motel housing, which they estimate will cost about $350 for each of 20 families. You can donate directly through St. Paul’s online donation service (https://onrealm.org/stpaulswaldorf/give/now) or you may donate through Durham, making sure to note that your contribution is for SafeNights. Rev. Catharine will match parishioner donations from her Discretionary Fund. Deadline for donations is Oct. 31.
