On Tuesday, January 19, at 5:30pm Durham Church's bell rang out as part of the National Moment of Unity and Remembrance.  As bells were rung and lights lit across the country, a small group of Durham parishioners gathered to pray and to ring the bell 13 times in memory of the 135 Charles County residents who have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Joe's Place Food Pantry:
winter changes

There are several changes to the Joe's Place schedule coming up:

From November through February, Joe's Place will be open 3:30-5:00pm.  That's one hour earlier than normal.  We're doing that in order to adjust for earlier sunsets.

Also, we have changed the traffic pattern: please enter at the corner entrance to the parking lot and pull up to the distribution tent.  This is to avoid the risk of back-ups out on the road.

Be sure to check out the Joe's Place page for more food pantry news, stories, and photos!

Sacred Ground is a film-and readings-based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith.  Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.

St James' Indian Head is planning to start a group soon. Contact Rev. Catharine if you are interested or have questions.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity runs each year from the Confession of St Peter on January 18 though the Conversion of St Paul on January 25.  This year's theme is 'Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit.' The week typically features ecumenical prayer services, and educational materials are produced by a different global partner each year.  This year's materials come from Switzerland.  Daily Bible Studies for the week are available HERE.  Click HERE to view this year's background materials.
